Choose a guide

Read the free web guide, including its requirements and testing notes. The same step list is bundled into Wisp.

Follow it in game

Open Wisp, select the matching guide and complete each step when you are ready. Browse ahead without changing progress.

Make it your journey

Show or hide optional detours. Your place is saved per character during normal logout or reload, ready for next time.

The alpha uses manual completion. Automatic quest detection, navigation arrows and website progress syncing are not included.

The next-step panel, guide library, progress saving, Undo and optional detours are implemented. This source package needs a client interface number before installation. It has not been verified in the Forever client.

TESTER SETUP

Install, open, choose your guide.

  1. Extract the download

    Find the ForeverWisp folder inside. Use the client you intend to test; keep this alpha separate from any trusted guide setup.

  2. Set the client interface number

    In game, enter /run print(select(4, GetBuildInfo())). Copy ForeverWisp.toc.template to ForeverWisp.toc and replace @INTERFACE@ with the number shown. Ensure the filename does not end in .txt. The included Windows helper can write this file for you.

  3. Put Wisp in your AddOns folder

    The final path should be Interface/AddOns/ForeverWisp/ForeverWisp.toc, alongside the Lua files. Restart the client and enable ForeverWisp in the AddOns list.

  4. Open the matching guide

    Enter /wisp for the panel, or use the command below to select this website guide directly. Mark steps complete manually; optional detours can be hidden in Options.

If Wisp is missing, check the folder nesting and the .toc filename. If the client reports errors, disable the alpha and include your build and reproduction steps in a report to hello@foreverwisp.com.

A few useful answers.

Is Wisp free?

The alpha and current preparation guides are free. Wisp Plus is a planned expanded guide library; it is not on sale. See the current plan.

Does it play the game for me?

No. Wisp displays guidance and saves your progress. Testers can enable quest-log detection with /wisp tracking on; it is off by default while client verification is pending. It does not move your character, fight, gather or trade for you.

Will website progress appear in game?

No. The guide content is shared; progress is separate. The website saves a browser checklist, and the addon saves progress per character.

How do guide updates arrive?

Guides are bundled with each addon release. Download and install the new release to get its guide data. Keep your SavedVariables when updating. A new guide version starts separate progress so changed instructions are not silently marked complete.

When will playable routes be ready?

After they have been checked in the actual Forever beta. We will publish the client build, testing date and limitations with each tested route.
