WoW Forever RP-PvP confirmed: choose your ruleset before launch
Blizzard confirms RP-PvP for WoW Forever’s November 4 launch. Here’s what to agree with friends before name reservation and your first leveling session.
Is RP-PvP coming to WoW Forever?
Yes. Blizzard has confirmed a Roleplay-PvP ruleset for WoW Forever’s November 4 launch. Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield announced the decision on October 22 after the team reconsidered feedback from players.
The team is working to make RP-PvP selectable when early name reservation opens on October 27. That is the announced target, rather than confirmation that the option is already available. If your friends were waiting for RP-PvP before choosing where to play, you can now plan around its launch inclusion.

Agree on your ruleset before you reserve a name
Blizzard’s ruleset guide says players need the same ruleset to group for quests, dungeons and raids. Horde and Alliance cannot form a party together. Characters cannot freely switch between rulesets, so a different choice normally means making another character.
That makes this a group decision before it becomes a character-creation decision. A familiar name is useful, but it will not help if the character attached to it cannot join your friends. Put your faction and ruleset in one pinned message where everyone can check them.
| Decide together | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Ruleset | Your questing and dungeon group needs to match. |
| Faction | Agree before anyone commits to a character. |
| Starting race and meeting point | Different starting areas can mean different opening routes. |
| First shared session | Choose a realistic time to meet rather than racing to catch up. |
What does RP-PvP change about your leveling plan?
The practical question is how you want an evening in Azeroth to feel. If the attraction is a roleplaying community with world-PvP encounters, leave room in your plans for other players to change the journey. A written quest route can help you decide what to do next without turning every interruption into a ruined schedule.
For a regular party, choose a meeting point and a small set of shared goals. Finishing a quest hub together is easier to coordinate than promising everyone will reach an exact level by the end of the night. If someone starts later, agree where they can rejoin before the rest of the group moves on.
Keep the distinction between a ruleset and a route clear. The ruleset determines the environment and who can group with you. Your leveling route helps organize quests within that environment. Installing a guide does not move a character into a friend’s ruleset.
Your October 27 checklist
Before reserving, check the live character-creation choices and Blizzard’s latest update. The announcement establishes RP-PvP for launch, but does not spell out every implementation detail. Do not assume every restriction described for the existing PvP option has separately been confirmed for RP-PvP.
Once your group has agreed where to play, choose the written route for your starting race. Wisp’s supported in-game guides can then keep the next step close at hand while you explore.
- Confirm everyone has the same ruleset and faction written down.
- Have a backup name ready.
- Check that RP-PvP is selectable before reserving a character there.
- Share your starting area and first meeting point with the group.
