WoW Forever Auction House deposit bug: check your silver before listing
A beta Auction House bug can take more silver than the displayed deposit. See the reports, what to check and how to protect your leveling budget.
Why did listing an item take more silver than expected?
WoW Forever beta players have reported a mismatch between the Auction House deposit shown on screen and the money removed when they post an item. Wowhead tested the issue in its September 29 report and found examples where a small copper deposit instead removed one silver.
The earlier Reddit post has an important correction. Its author narrowed the claim to deposits below one silver, rather than every auction. Wowhead also reported a smaller discrepancy on a higher deposit, so there is no reliable rule here that makes every larger listing safe.
If you are saving for your next trainer visit, check your balance before posting a bagful of cheap drops. The amount shown beside the deposit may not explain the whole change.

Keep your next training trip out of your auction budget
Set aside the money you need for your next abilities and supplies before deciding what to sell. You do not have to auction every spare herb or potion as soon as you reach town.
For a low-value item, compare the vendor price with the likely auction proceeds and the amount you must put down to list it. Keep useful crafting materials for your own recipes if that suits your plans. Neither choice needs a bet on prices rising later.

- Check one listing before committing more items.
- Write down your balance in copper so the comparison is clear.
- Stop if the deduction differs from the displayed deposit.
- Avoid repeated test listings if the first one already shows the problem.
Will you get the extra deposit back?
Player reports disagree about refunds after a sale. Do not treat a future refund as confirmed, or the missing silver as permanently lost, without checking the completed sale yourself.
We found no Auction House deposit fix in the Blizzard known-issues post or September 24 development notes checked for this article. That leaves the current report unresolved, rather than confirming how every auction behaves today.
Give a bug report enough detail to follow
If you encounter the mismatch, record the item, quantity, listing duration, displayed deposit and balances before and after posting. Include your client build and screenshots. Keep purchases and mail collections out of that comparison so another transaction cannot explain the difference.
Then carry on with your route. Wisp’s leveling addon keeps supported quest steps and directions in game, while the written starting guides let you check your next stop on the web.
