WoW Forever Darkspear Islands: level requirement, queues and rewards

Learn how the Darkspear Islands battleground works in WoW Forever, where to queue from level 30, how to score and which reputation rewards to check.

Darkspear Islands starts at level 30

Battle for the Darkspear Islands is a 15v15 battleground for levels 30–60. The first team to reach 2,000 points wins. Blizzard’s October 7 preview describes four capture points and a flag in the centre of the map.

If you are leveling towards your first visit, the entry level is the useful milestone. You do not need to plan a level-60 character before learning the objectives. Check the battleground’s availability in your current beta build before making a special journey.

Where to queue for Darkspear Islands

Blizzard lists battlemasters in major capitals and two faction bases in the Barrens. The bases also have battleground quests and reputation vendors.

Horde in the BarrensDarkspear Raiders base at the Merchant Coast.
Alliance in the BarrensTheramore Expeditionary Force base at Northwatch.

Hold a base before chasing the flag

Controlled bases generate points, with more bases increasing the rate. Carry the central flag to a base your team owns for extra points.

That makes an owned destination part of a useful flag run. Our starting advice is to check the map before leaving a defended position. A crowded fight in the middle can look productive while an unattended base changes hands behind it.

For a first match, pick a simple job with your group. Defend a base, escort a carrier or call incoming enemies. Learning the approaches and communicating a clear task is a better first goal than trying to lead the whole team immediately.

Reputation rewards and the Exalted tabard

Horde players progress with the Darkspear Raiders. Alliance players progress with the Theramore Expeditionary Force. Rewards include equipment and consumables at reputation thresholds, with Marks of Honor used for reputation quests. Exalted unlocks a short questline for the faction tabard.

Visit the vendor with a specific slot in mind. Compare an upgrade with what your character already wears, then check its standing and purchase requirements. Reaching a reputation milestone and having everything needed to buy an item are separate steps.

Keep this reputation goal separate from your overall PvP rank. The rank system has its own progression and gear requirements, explained in our updated PvP guide.

Fit your first battleground around your leveling session

Before joining, finish a convenient quest hand-in, repair and leave room in your bags. If you are playing with friends, agree whether you want a single introduction or a longer PvP session. That makes it easier to return to questing together afterwards.

Keep a note of your next quest location before you queue. Wisp can keep supported leveling steps and navigation beside your character when you return to the world. Battleground objectives and reputation rewards are covered here as a written reference.

We are not assigning an XP-per-hour value to this battleground. The official preview explains how to play, but it does not provide a measured comparison with questing or dungeon leveling.
