WoW Forever Smelting Pants: the bonus, requirements and where to find them
Smelting Pants reduce the time spent smelting four early metals in the Forever beta. Check the level requirement, Gilnid drop location and what the bonus covers.

What do Smelting Pants do in WoW Forever?
Smelting Pants have a profession bonus in the Forever beta: while equipped, they reduce crafting time for Smelt Copper, Smelt Tin, Smelt Bronze and Smelt Silver by 25%. The effect appears on Wowhead’s current Forever item entry and in the beta item record collected by ForeverChanges.
They are leather legs that require level 16. The listed stats are 76 armor, 7 Stamina and 5 Spirit. They bind when picked up.

Where do Smelting Pants drop?
ForeverChanges lists Gilnid in The Deadmines as the source. If you are already planning a run, check his loot for the pants. This is a community beta record, so confirm the item tooltip in your current build before planning around it.
Because the item binds on pickup, do not plan on buying that version from the Auction House. You also need to be able to equip leather armor to use its equip effect.
What the bonus does not promise
The tooltip names four smelting recipes. It does not list Iron, gathering speed, extra bars or a skill gain bonus. Do not count on it speeding up every Mining activity.
A 25% reduction in crafting time means a batch that would take 100 seconds would take 75 seconds if the stated reduction applies directly. That is an arithmetic example, not a timed beta test. Travel to a forge and time spent collecting ore are separate.
Is it worth going out of your way for them?
Our advice is to treat the pants as a useful find during a Deadmines visit, especially if you regularly smelt those early metals. A long detour for a small batch can eat up the time the bonus saves.
Keep your fighting gear in mind too. If you keep the pants for crafting, remember to switch back when you leave the forge. The profession effect alone does not make them the best combat choice for your character.
For a relaxed profession session, collect materials while following your route and do a batch when you return to town. That gives the bonus a clear use without turning every quest session into a dungeon farm.
