WoW Forever’s 16 free Legacy points: when they arrive and what to test

Blizzard plans to give beta testers 16 Legacy points in a future week. What is confirmed, what remains unknown and how to plan a useful test.

Are the 16 free Legacy points available now?

Blizzard has announced plans to grant all beta testers 16 Legacy points in a future week. The October 1 post does not give a date or say the grant is already active.

Once it is applied, Blizzard expects the grant to remain until the beta ends. The aim is to let more people test the system without first spending substantial time earning points through activities such as leveling other classes or clearing dungeons.

Pick a benefit you will notice in ordinary play

Before spending points, choose one part of your usual session to pay attention to. It might be gathering on the way to quests, returning to an alt after a break or managing class reagents. Read the current tooltips and requirements in the client before committing.

Write down your current choices and the change you want to try. Then play a similar session with the new setup. Keeping your route and other choices broadly consistent makes the result easier to understand than changing everything at once.

If your focus is…Keep a simple record of…
GatheringYour route, time spent gathering and materials collected.
An occasional altTime away, the rested bar when you return and how you use it.
Everyday convenienceWhich repeated trips or chores the selected benefit actually removes.

Should you stop earning points while you wait?

If you enjoy the challenges, carry on. If you were only repeating an activity to unlock a test build, the announced grant gives you a reason to wait for a firm rollout date before committing more time.

That is a choice about how to spend your beta time, not a claim that earning points has become pointless. The announcement leaves the treatment of existing points unspecified. Keep screenshots of your earned progress if you want to report any problems after the grant arrives.

For a new character, choose the race and class you actually want to try. Wisp can handle the quest steps and directions on its supported starting routes while you get familiar with that character.
