WoW Forever book collection: which level 20 ring should you choose?
Field Researcher’s Loop is no longer Rogue-only. Compare both book-collection rings, the 20-book milestone and the level requirement before choosing your reward.
The book reward is worth another look
Field Researcher’s Loop is now available to all classes in the WoW Forever beta. Wowhead reported the removal of its Rogue restriction on October 2. Collecting 20 books unlocks Greater Friend of the Library, which offers this ring or Philanthropist’s Ring.
There is another change to notice before you head off collecting. The comparison removes the old 7 Strength as well as the class restriction. The current loop has 7 Agility and 7 Stamina. An old screenshot or recommendation may be describing a different item.

Do you need to be level 35?
The quest entry lists level 20 as the minimum requirement. Its displayed quest level is 35, and both rings are item level 35. Those are different numbers, so do not read the item level as a requirement to level your character to 35.
The quest is listed for both factions, with relevant locations in Stormwind and Undercity. Its reward is a choice of one ring. Reaching level 20 by itself does not replace the book-collection milestone.
Field Researcher’s Loop or Philanthropist’s Ring?
Compare the reward with the weaker of your two equipped rings and with the role you actually play. Access for every class does not mean every class should choose the same reward.

Fit the books around your leveling route
Wowhead links an Alliance collection route by Patrickjarvis324 for players working towards 20 books. Treat it as a player’s route to consult, rather than a guarantee that every location will be safe for your current level.
Our suggestion is to note books near your existing quest stops first. A short detour on the way to a turn-in is easier to justify than crossing several zones for a ring you have not compared yet. Group remaining visits by area when you are ready for a collection trip.
Wisp’s free beta covers starting routes towards level 20. For the books themselves, consult the linked player collection list and choose visits that fit your current level. Some of its locations were difficult even for the original author at 20.
