WoW Forever book necklaces: which Friend of the Library reward to choose?
Compare Erudite’s Amulet and Scholarly Pendant after the beta nerf. Check the 10-book requirement, current stats and whether either fits your leveling gear.
The 10-book reward has changed
Erudite’s Amulet and Scholarly Pendant are now Uncommon items in the WoW Forever beta. Wowhead’s October 3 report shows that the necklaces from Friend of the Library have lost stats as well as their old blue quality.
Collecting and handing in 10 books unlocks this reward choice. It is separate from the 20-book ring reward, so check which milestone a guide is describing before setting off.

Erudite’s Amulet or Scholarly Pendant?
Both current necklaces are item level 23 and give 3 Stamina. The useful choice comes down to the other stat and what is already in your neck slot.

Where does the reward come from?
Friend of the Library is listed for both factions. Its database entry points to Garion Wendell and Owen Thadd, with relevant locations in Stormwind and Undercity. The completion window offers one necklace, not both.
The entry displays quest level 20 but a minimum requirement of level 1. Neither that quest level nor the necklaces’ item level replaces the 10-book collection requirement. The database also marks the quest as not shareable.
Is it still worth collecting books while leveling?
If your neck slot is empty and several books sit near quests you already intend to do, the reward is still worth comparing. If you have a better necklace, this change gives you less reason to make a long trip solely for its stats.
Our suggestion is to check your gear first, then separate nearby pickups from a dedicated collection trip. Keep a short note of the books you have handed in so you do not repeat visits. A collection goal should give you another reason to explore, rather than leave you wondering why your questing evening turned into a cross-continent errand.
You can carry on towards the later ring milestone, but compare that reward separately. This necklace change does not tell you which ring is best for your class.
