WoW Forever Classic or Enhanced: which preset should you choose?

Compare Classic and Enhanced settings in WoW Forever, including quest markers, bags and movement controls. Set up a comfortable interface before your first leveling route.

Start with the amount of guidance you want

WoW Forever’s Classic preset starts with quest points of interest and objective areas switched off. Enhanced turns them on. If you want directions visible while learning a new area, Enhanced is the easier starting point.

Blizzard’s October 28 starter guide confirms that the choice appears before ruleset selection. Individual settings remain adjustable under Game Menu > Options afterward.

Our advice: choose for your first evening

If you are returning after years away, start with a setup you can read comfortably. Put your health, abilities and next objective where you can glance at them without losing sight of the fight. You can decide later whether you prefer a quieter map.

If discovering every objective yourself is part of the appeal, Classic is a reasonable choice. You do not need to copy another player’s entire setup to enjoy the same world. Start small and change the specific thing that gets in your way.

Before taking on anything difficult, try moving around a safe area and using your usual ability keys. Familiar-looking buttons can still feel awkward when the movement bindings differ. A minute spent getting comfortable is more useful than repeatedly changing settings in the middle of a quest.

A missing tracker entry does not mean a missing quest

Blizzard distinguishes the complete Quest Log from the shorter on-screen tracker. With default bindings, L opens the log and M opens the map. Tracking controls visibility. Abandon removes a quest from the log.

If you cannot see your objective, check the log first. Our advice is to avoid abandoning and collecting the quest again as your first troubleshooting step. Read the objective, check its progress and then decide what needs changing.

Where does a leveling addon fit?

A map marker helps with a destination. A route gives the journey an order. Our written leveling routes are a useful place to look ahead, while Wisp brings guide steps into the game.

Choose the amount of help you enjoy. You might follow a guide on a second character, read ahead before a short session, or leave yourself room to wander between objectives. A comfortable setup should make it easier to enjoy that time.
