WoW Forever Cookie’s Stirring Rod: a Cooking bonus from Deadmines
Cookie’s Stirring Rod now lists 25% increased Cooking speed. Check its level requirement, where it drops and when it is worth keeping while leveling.
A reason to keep an old wand
Cookie’s Stirring Rod now lists 25% increased Cooking speed as an equip effect in WoW Forever. Wowhead highlighted the bonus on October 4 as part of a set of profession-themed gear changes.
If your character can equip wands, this gives a Deadmines drop a second use after you replace it for combat. Keep it in mind when sorting your bags rather than automatically selling it with your other old weapons.

Where to get Cookie’s Stirring Rod
The Forever database lists Cookie, the ship’s cook in the Deadmines, as its source. The wand binds when picked up and requires character level 17. Its item level is 22, which is not the same as the level needed to equip it.
The entry displays drop counts under filters that include other game versions and seasons. We are not using those totals to promise a Forever beta drop chance.
| Property | Current Forever entry |
|---|---|
| Source | Cookie in the Deadmines |
| Required character level | 17 |
| Item type | Ranged wand, binds when picked up |
| Cooking effect | 25% increased Cooking speed while equipped |
Can every cook use it?
No. Learning Cooking does not give your character permission to equip a wand. Check your weapon proficiencies before planning a run around this bonus. Keeping the item in a bag is also different from equipping it.
For someone who can use it, our practical suggestion is to equip the rod for a batch of cooking during a quiet stop, then return to the weapon you want for combat. Check your equipment before leaving town, especially if you normally change weapons through an equipment set.
Cooking speed is not a bigger food buff
The listed bonus changes Cooking speed. The tooltip does not promise extra skill points, free ingredients or stronger meals. Choose the recipe around what you need and can make.
This also differs from Smelting Pants, which affect specified smelting recipes. That item already has its own guide. You do not need to collect a whole set of profession gear before enjoying professions alongside your quests.
Should you run Deadmines just for it?
If you already want the dungeon’s quests or equipment, the Cooking bonus is another reason to check what drops. For occasional meals, repeated dungeon runs solely to shorten cooking casts may be more effort than the bonus saves.
Our advice is to keep it if it drops and suits your character, then cook in batches when your route brings you back to supplies. Look at your ingredients before that stop so you can finish the useful recipes without another shopping trip.
