WoW Forever dungeon finder: playstyles and finding a group
Learning, Relaxed, Competitive or Carry Offered? Understand the new required dungeon finder choice in WoW Forever and agree on quests and pace before your run.
Pick a playstyle before listing yourself
The Forever beta dungeon finder now requires a playstyle choice. The four labels are Learning, Relaxed, Competitive and Carry Offered. Wowhead reported the change on October 7.
The screenshot shows a group-listing interface with a List Self button. This change alone does not establish automatic matchmaking or teleporting to the dungeon. Its immediate use is helping players explain what kind of group they want.

Which playstyle should you choose?
The labels are short, so add a sentence about your plans. These are our practical suggestions for using them, not formal Blizzard definitions or a promise about the players you will meet.
| Playstyle | A useful way to describe your run |
|---|---|
| Learning | First visit, trying a new role or happy to explain pulls and mechanics. |
| Relaxed | A comfortable pace with room for quest stops and a break if needed. |
| Competitive | An organised run with expectations about pace and preparation stated up front. |
| Carry Offered | Clarify exactly what the listing offers before joining. The label alone does not explain payment, rules or expectations. |
Write the one sentence that prevents a wasted trip
For a first visit, try: “First run, doing dungeon quests, happy to learn. Please say if you need any stops.” For a familiar dungeon: “Know the route, steady pace, checking everyone’s quest objectives before we start.”
If you are offering to tank or heal for the first time, say so before the group sets off. A class or talent tree is not a substitute for agreeing who will fill each role. Mention any time limit too. It is easier to find a group that fits your evening before you are halfway through a dungeon.
Check quests before leaving town
Ask which objectives people need and whether any pickups or prerequisites are still missing. Decide whether the run includes side rooms, optional bosses and return trips. Your playstyle label cannot communicate all of that on its own.
For Dalaran, Horde characters should check their attunement progress before arranging the journey. For other dungeons, collect the quests you actually intend to finish and keep their hand-in locations in mind.
Does Carry Offered change the rules?
The presence of a menu option is not evidence that Blizzard has changed its rules on paid services or GDKPs. Read the listing and the current game rules before treating an offer as something the label officially permits.
This article is about the new group-finder interface. It does not establish a new boosting policy or recommend buying a carry.
Keep the group’s next stop clear
Once you have agreed on a run, keep your own quest log and your friends’ objectives in view. If you use Wisp on a supported route, optional party progress sharing can help you see where participating players are in that guide. It is separate from Blizzard’s dungeon finder and does not fill missing roles or finish another player’s quests.
Choose the group that suits the evening you want. If nobody is in a hurry, there is no need to turn a new dungeon into a race.
