WoW Forever Enchanting wand nerf: vendor prices and leveling

Crafted common and uncommon wands now sell to vendors for 1 copper. See what changes for Enchanting, early caster weapons and your leveling budget.

Why does my crafted wand only sell for 1 copper?

Blizzard’s October 1 notes set the vendor value of all crafted common and uncommon wands to one copper. This changes the return from crafting a wand and selling it to an NPC.

It does not set the price another player will pay. A vendor sale and an Auction House sale are different decisions, and old vendor-flipping advice needs to be recalculated.

Which early crafted wands should casters check?

Wowhead’s current report lists these four examples. Match the required level to your character, then compare the tooltip with your equipped wand before buying ingredients or a finished weapon.

WandRequired character levelListed weapon DPS
Lesser Magic Wand511.33
Greater Magic Wand1317.50
Lesser Mystic Wand2625.38
Greater Mystic Wand3029.00

Should you still craft wands to level Enchanting?

Craft for a purpose. A wand you will equip, give to a friend or use to gain profession skill can still have value to you. A pile made only for its former vendor return is a different proposition.

Treat gathered or disenchanted materials as having a cost too. Using them in a wand means you cannot keep them for another recipe or sell those same materials. Compare the alternatives before clicking Create All.

  • Illustrative calculation: if one craft costs 40 copper in total, a one-copper vendor sale loses 39 copper. Your actual recipe costs may differ.

Keep the craft from swallowing your questing budget

Decide how much you want to spend before buying materials. Leave enough for training, repairs and supplies, then stop crafting when you reach the skill or item you wanted.

Keep only the next recipe’s materials on your shopping list. The game’s profession tracker can help with that. Wisp’s free beta supplies quest steps and navigation for supported starting routes, while profession-guide integration remains in development.
