WoW Forever Auto Shot and wand bug: what the planned fix changes

Blizzard confirms the short Auto Shot and wand cast time is a beta bug. What Hunters and wand users should know before planning their leveling build.

The faster shots are a bug, not a promised class feature

Blizzard says the intended half-second cast before a Hunter Auto Shot or wand attack is currently shorter than it should be. That lets affected characters stop for less time before shooting. Kaivax announced a correction for a future beta build on 23 September, with the following week as a hoped-for target.

That announcement does not confirm that the fix is already live. It also does not announce a weapon-damage reduction or a complete redesign of Hunter combat.

What should you do while leveling?

Our recommendation is to choose a class for the way you want to play, rather than a movement trick that may disappear. If you enjoy the current stop-and-shoot rhythm, try it again after the relevant update before committing to a build around it.

  • Hunter: practise a pull you can finish safely without relying on a tiny pause between movements.
  • Wand users: keep an eye on the space between you and the target. Leave room to stop rather than assuming every moving finish will work.
  • Anyone comparing builds: record the client version. A clip made before a combat fix may not describe the version you are playing.

A shot-timing change is different from a quest-guide problem

If an attack feels different after an update, separate it from navigation or quest progress. Our suggested check is to repeat the same simple action with addons disabled, then enable them one at a time if you need to narrow down an interface issue. A leveling addon can guide your route, but it cannot change the combat rules.

For low spell damage, also check the rank on your action bar. That is a separate issue with its own guide.

A useful check after the patch

For your own comparison, keep the character, weapon, target and starting distance the same. Try one stationary shot and one stop-and-shoot attempt, then note what changed. If you report a problem, include a short clip and the client build rather than only saying the class feels slower.

We will update the status here when a release note confirms the fix. Until then, treat the announced timing as the intended behaviour and the deployment date as unresolved.

Sources and review notes

Checked 24 September against Kaivax’s 23 September announcement. A fix is planned, not confirmed deployed by this source. We have not measured the cast time or a change in leveling speed.
