WoW Forever Oceanic day/night cycle: is a timezone fix coming?

Oceanic players want daylight during their WoW Forever sessions. Here is what the developers discussed, what players are asking for and what remains unconfirmed.

A possible change is being discussed

Blizzard has discussed using an Australian timezone for Oceanic servers, according to PC Gamer’s October 30 report on the official tech podcast. The tradeoff is that joining a North American player could suddenly change the sky from day to night, or the reverse.

That is a proposal under discussion, not an announced launch fix. Josh Greenfield asked players for feedback on whether they would accept those abrupt lighting changes.

Why are Oceanic players asking for this?

PC Gamer reports that Forever’s 24-hour day/night cycle follows North American timing for these players. Someone returning at a consistent local time can repeatedly experience darkness, even when they would like to see the world in daylight.

The player discussion is about more than brighter evenings

The linked r/wowforever post argues that a sudden change when grouping would be worth having a local timezone. Other replies suggest a shorter day/night cycle so people with fixed schedules would gradually see different lighting.

The replies also raise questions about scheduled events. A visual sky change and an event timetable are different concerns. These comments describe what players want, not confirmed changes to event rules or server behavior.

What useful feedback looks like

If this affects your usual play session, describe that session rather than just saying the world is too dark. Give your timezone, typical local play hours and the area where visibility bothers you. Explain whether you normally play with local friends or people in another region.

It also helps to say which tradeoff you prefer. Would a sudden daylight change when joining friends bother you? Would you rather see the lighting gradually move across different sessions? Those answers explain the experience you want without pretending there is one solution everyone prefers.

Keep lighting, performance and grouping problems separate in a report. A dim scene, a low frame rate and a friend who is no longer visible may happen at the same time, but a screenshot alone does not establish a shared cause.

Finding your next objective while the decision is open

Our advice for a difficult-to-read area is to pause somewhere safe, check the quest text and map, then identify the landmark you are heading towards. If you are playing with friends, agree on the next meeting point before spreading out.

A written leveling route can help you look ahead. Wisp can keep guide directions in view, but a leveling addon is not a server-timezone fix. We are not recommending a console command or promising a daylight toggle from this discussion.
