WoW Forever Paladin spell-power mail: what to check while leveling
Early spell-power mail is scarce in the Forever beta. Compare the reported quest exceptions, crafting options and sensible gear choices for a leveling Paladin.
Why is spell-power mail hard to find?
An October 22 Wowhead report highlights a shortage of spell-power mail from early WoW Forever quests and dungeons. For a Paladin looking for both armor and caster stats, that can make an otherwise ordinary reward choice awkward.
The report’s dungeon search mainly found random-suffix uncommon pieces, including “of Magic” and “of the Knight”. Its quest search found two healing-focused exceptions. This is a gap in the reported selection, not proof that all spell-power mail has been removed.

The two quest exceptions in the report
Garrison Cuffs and Silvered Gauntlets both appear in the report with healing and spell-damage bonuses. The item levels below describe the items. They are not character-level requirements or a promise that you can collect them as soon as you reach that level.
| Mail item | Item level | Reported bonuses |
|---|---|---|
| Garrison Cuffs | 18 | 71 armor, +2 Spirit, +2 healing, +1 spell damage |
| Silvered Gauntlets | 27 | 118 armor, +5 Stamina, +9 healing, +3 spell damage |
Choose gear for the job you are doing
A Paladin taking hits while questing and a Paladin healing a dungeon party are making different equipment decisions. Before replacing a piece, decide what problem the replacement is meant to solve. More healing may be useful for a dungeon session without being a reason to throw away your everyday set.
Keep a small alternative set if you regularly change roles. Compare the whole item against what you wear now, including armor, useful stats and bag space. A single caster bonus is not enough information to declare one piece best for every activity.
When grouping, say what you intend to use a drop for before rolling. That is especially helpful when your healing choice competes with someone else’s everyday armor. An agreed loot expectation is much easier than an argument after the boss dies.
Check crafting before buying an expensive stopgap
Wowhead points to crafted equipment and random-suffix greens as alternatives worth checking. The accompanying vendor screenshot shows Blacksmithing plans, but it is not a complete shopping list or proof that every plan is suitable for your character.
Price the finished item as well as its materials. If you would need to buy a recipe, raise a profession and purchase ingredients just for one temporary slot, compare that total with the benefit you expect from wearing it. Ask a guild crafter what they can actually make before changing professions around a database search.

Keep your leveling route moving
You do not need to settle every future gear slot before finishing your current quests. Mark a worthwhile reward when you find one, combine it with a trip you already intend to make and avoid crossing the map for an upgrade you have not checked.
Our Human and Dwarf routes can help organize that journey. Use Wisp if you want supported guide steps in game, and make equipment choices around the role you are playing. A guide can help with the next quest, while the item tooltip remains the place to check what a reward actually gives you.
