The proposed Retribution levelling build
This Retribution-first proposal is for two-handed questing with self-healing. It reaches Twist of Light, then adds Holy support for a final 20/0/31 allocation. It prioritises a manageable melee routine before experimenting with seal switching; it is not a claim that seal twisting is required for every levelling fight.
At level 60, the allocation is 20/0/31 in the tree order shown below. The table assumes a fresh character with no Talented Legacy ranks and spends one point each level from 10 to 60. Point 31 is Twist of Light at level 40.
| Tree | Points at level 60 |
|---|---|
| Holy | 20 |
| Protection | 0 |
| Retribution | 31 |
Paladin talent order, level by level
Read from top to bottom. A level range means spend one point per level in that talent; the rank range shows your resulting ranks, not extra points to add all at once. Repeated talents resume an earlier investment. This order checks the published tier gates and prerequisites without requiring a respec.
The level-60 endpoint is a planning target, not a claim that the current beta level cap lets you reach it. If you already have a different allocation, compare the prerequisites before copying the next row.
| Level · no Talented | Talent · resulting rank | Why this block |
|---|---|---|
| 10–14 | Benediction · 1–5/5 (Retribution) | Start with the cost of frequently used buttons. |
| 15–16 | Improved Judgement · 1–2/2 (Retribution) | Build around regular Judgement use. |
| 17–19 | Conviction · 1–3/5 (Retribution) | Begin the melee critical investment. |
| 20 | Seal of Command · 1/1 (Retribution) | Choose the seal used by this melee plan. |
| 21–22 | Pursuit of Justice · 1–2/2 (Retribution) | Include travel in the levelling decision. |
| 23–24 | Sanctified Judgement · 1–2/3 (Retribution) | Start the prerequisite for Vengeance. |
| 25 | Sacred Arbiter · 1/1 (Retribution) | Connect Holy Strike with the Judgement plan. |
| 26 | Sanctified Judgement · 3/3 (Retribution) | Complete the Vengeance prerequisite. |
| 27–28 | Conviction · 4–5/5 (Retribution) | Finish the earlier critical investment. |
| 29 | Crusade · 1/2 (Retribution) | Bridge into the next tier. |
| 30–32 | Vengeance · 1–3/3 (Retribution) | Reward the melee critical investment. |
| 33–34 | Two-Handed Weapon Specialization · 1–2/3 (Retribution) | Commit to the two-handed assumption. |
| 35 | Two-Handed Weapon Specialization · 3/3 (Retribution) | Complete that weapon investment. |
| 36–38 | Champion of the Light · 1–3/3 (Retribution) | Give Intellect a role in the mixed toolkit. |
| 39 | Crusade · 2/2 (Retribution) | Complete the earlier damage choice. |
| 40 | Twist of Light · 1/1 (Retribution) | Add seal switching as an optional technique to practise. |
| 41–45 | Divine Strength · 1–5/5 (Holy) | Start the Holy follow-up with melee support. |
| 46–47 | Improved Holy Strike · 1–2/2 (Holy) | Invest further in the central attack. |
| 48–50 | Improved Seals · 1–3/3 (Holy) | Support the seal and Judgement choices. |
| 51–53 | Reverence · 1–3/3 (Holy) | Add sustain for casting stretches. |
| 54–55 | Spiritual Focus · 1–2/2 (Holy) | Support a heal when a target reaches you. |
| 56–60 | Divine Intellect · 1–5/5 (Holy) | Finish with a larger Intellect investment. |
How to approach solo questing with this build
Begin with a repeatable pull and a reserve for a heal or utility spell. Track whether an extra button materially shortens the fight or merely causes another recovery stop. A short, consistent sequence is a useful baseline before adding a more demanding technique.
Seal of Command, Judgement and Sacred Arbiter are the centre of this proposed melee plan. Twist of Light adds another timing decision at the end of the first tree. Practise it on safe targets and compare the whole resource cycle before making it part of every pull.
Pursuit of Justice makes movement part of the talent decision. The later Holy points support the mixed melee-and-spell toolkit. They do not make every Intellect item preferable to every Strength item: compare the complete equipment change, including the weapon and the resources you actually run out of.
Dungeon play and alternative talent choices
For dungeon damage, follow the tank’s target and watch where Consecration or other area attacks could reach controlled enemies. Save enough resources to use the utility the group expects from you.
Regular healing calls for a Holy-focused plan and suitable equipment. Regular tanking calls for a Protection and shield plan. This two-handed allocation is a solo starting point; changing the group role should trigger a new review of talents, equipment and ability use.
Adjusting the order for the Talented Legacy perk
Wowhead’s calculator models Talented ranks 1–5 as moving the first talent point from level 10 down to levels 9–5, while keeping the maximum at 51. Under that model, subtract your Talented rank from every level in the order above. For example, with rank 3, the first point is at level 7 and point 31 is at level 37.
This shifts the proposed point schedule; it does not award more than 51 points or prove that every associated ability is available earlier. The default plan assumes rank 0. Use only the rank actually active on your character and verify the rules in the client.
The earlier schedule does not prove earlier training for Holy Strike, Judgement or supporting utility. Check those abilities independently before assuming an advanced seal sequence is usable.
| Talented rank | First point | 31st point | 51st point |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0/5 | Level 10 | Level 40 | Level 60 |
| 1/5 | Level 9 | Level 39 | Level 59 |
| 2/5 | Level 8 | Level 38 | Level 58 |
| 3/5 | Level 7 | Level 37 | Level 57 |
| 4/5 | Level 6 | Level 36 | Level 56 |
| 5/5 | Level 5 | Level 35 | Level 55 |
Open the build and compare the calculators
The populated ForeverChanges link opens this guide’s final level-60 allocation. Use the order above for the journey to that endpoint. The separate Wowhead link opens the class calculator so you can inspect and experiment with its tree; it is not a prefilled copy of this build.
At review, Wowhead still displayed a BlizzCon-footage data warning. This guide uses the newer build-attributed extract for talent constraints. If a calculator shows a different rank, position or prerequisite, stop at that difference and check its source date instead of forcing the allocation to fit. Saved links can also change meaning when an external calculator updates its trees.
What needs checking in the Forever client
Record the client build, level, talents, equipment and enemies before comparing two choices. Use several similar pulls, and include travel, recovery, interruptions and deaths. Keep solo observations separate from dungeon results. The checks below are the specific questions this proposal should answer.
- Mana and healing needed across several pulls.
- A simple seal routine versus deliberate Twist of Light use under the same conditions.
- How much travel and recovery contribute to the total session.
Paladin levelling talent questions
Is this the best Paladin levelling build? It is a complete, sourced proposal for two-handed melee with self-healing. We have no comparative Forever playtests that establish it as the fastest or safest choice.
Can I follow it without Legacy perks? Yes: the main order uses no Talented ranks and allocates all 51 points from levels 10–60. You can adjust the schedule with the separate Legacy table.
Does Wisp select these talents in game? No. This is a free website guide. The current addon does not provide this talent recommendation system or spend talent points for you. Its available routes and testing status are described on the addon page.
