WoW Forever talent respec: reported costs and planning your next build

Planning to reset talents in the Forever beta? Find the reported trainer process, distinguish class and Legacy resets, and avoid paying before your build is ready.

Where do you reset talents?

The September 21 All Things How guide reports that a trainer for your own class handles talent resets through a dialogue option covering class or Legacy talents. Start with an appropriate class trainer and inspect the reset choices and displayed cost before confirming.

We have not verified every trainer or city combination in the Forever client. If a trainer lacks the option, do not assume the ability has been removed everywhere. Check another appropriate trainer and the current beta issue reports.

What does a respec cost in the beta?

Players asking for free beta resets report a starting class-talent cost of 1 gold. The All Things How guide also reports 1 gold for the first reset, then 5 gold for the second, with later resets increasing toward a 50-gold cap.

Treat that sequence as reported, not independently verified here. Your trainer’s confirmation is the price to check before spending. We have not found an announcement making beta resets free, and a popular request for that change is not evidence it has happened.

Class talents and Legacy perks are separate decisions

Class talents shape that character’s build. Legacy perks belong to the account-wide progression system. Wowhead’s current Legacy overview says those points can also be reset at a class trainer, while noting uncertainty about repeated costs.

Before confirming any reset, read which points it affects. Do not use a quoted class-respec price to budget for a Legacy reset. If you have changed a perk that affects when talent points arrive, recheck the point schedule in your class guide.

Have the next build ready before you pay

Our advice is to save your current allocation and sketch the replacement in a Forever calculator first. Work at your current level and actual point count. A level-60 build can look appealing while depending on talents you cannot reach during this beta session.

Decide what you want to improve. Fewer recovery breaks, a different dungeon role and trying a particular interaction are useful goals. Changing several things at once makes it harder to know which choice helped.

CheckWhy it matters
Current level and available pointsThe endpoint must fit the character you can play today.
Tier gates and prerequisitesA desired talent may need earlier investment.
Equipment and trained abilitiesA talent can depend on something your character does not yet have.
Gold left after the resetLeave room for the training and supplies you still need.

Give the new build a fair try

After allocating the points, review your spellbook and action bars. Try familiar enemies with similar equipment and note how the whole session feels, including recovery and travel. Save the old build so you have a clear comparison.

You do not need to reset simply because a different build is popular. If your current character handles the content you enjoy, plan the next change around something you actually want to try. Our class guides explain their assumptions and proposed point orders so you can make that decision before visiting the trainer.
