What players are reporting about rage
A widely discussed 23 September testing post reports that more damage per hit does not produce more rage in the current Forever beta, and that critical hits do not add the extra rage players expect. The author links a testing video and compares weapons with the same swing speed.
Players call this rage normalization. For a leveling Warrior, the concern is the gap between swings and the abilities available to spend rage on. These are current player observations, not a verified formula for every level, weapon or talent setup.
Does that make a better weapon pointless?
No. Rage generation and damage are different questions. The reported behaviour is not evidence that weapon damage stops mattering. Our advice is to compare the whole fight rather than judging an upgrade only by how far it moves the rage bar.
Record kill time, health remaining and recovery time alongside rage. A change that feels quiet on the resource bar may still affect how a pull goes. We have not established a best weapon-speed rule from these reports.
Before you change your leveling build
Our practical starting point is a few ordinary, repeatable pulls. Pick enemies you can handle comfortably and look for the moments where you are waiting for rage. That gives you something specific to compare when you change a talent or piece of gear.
- Check that the abilities on your bar are the ones you intended to use.
- Keep one variable at a time when comparing gear or talents.
- Write down your level, client build, weapon speed and relevant buffs.
- Use your race’s route notes to check class quests and trainer visits. Extra travel and missed training can muddy a combat comparison.
The 2024 developer post is not a new Forever patch note
Another popular thread shares Josh Greenfield’s older comments about rage in Season of Discovery. It is useful context for the design debate, but it does not confirm a Forever fix, new values or a release date. Treat any claimed upcoming change as unconfirmed until there is a current announcement.
How to make a useful Warrior beta report
Players on the beta forum describe long waits between abilities, but even that discussion contains uncertainty about other symptoms. One complaint about stance changes is questioned as a possible weapon-swap macro issue.
- Describe one action that fails or feels wrong, with the expected result.
- Include a short recording or a small set of comparable pulls.
- Separate rage generation from threat, macros and navigation.
- Say whether you can reproduce the behaviour without addons. Avoid presenting a level-20 result as a level-60 class ranking.
