WoW Forever Shaman weapon quest: The Tempest’s Weapons from level 30

How the WoW Forever Shaman weapon chain works, from Razorfen Kraul and 20 Twisted Totems to The Tempest’s Weapons, with the October 8 drop changes and current Rage of the Storm stats.

How do you get the Shaman weapon in WoW Forever?

Shamans earn a choice of three weapons from a quest chain that follows the Air totem quest at level 30. Wowhead reported the chain on October 9, based on a Reddit post, and its quest records list each step.

In short, you loot a note from Charlga Razorflank in Razorfen Kraul and collect 20 Twisted Totems across four zones. Then you end a quilboar ritual in Thousand Needles, where Wowhead reports level 40 elites, and take the Eye of the Tempest to Bath’rah the Windwatcher in Alterac Mountains. He offers Rage of the Storm, Tidebringer’s Claw or Lightning’s Grasp.

The quest chain step by step

Every step requires level 30. Quest levels rise from 30 to 40, and Heed My Call is marked Elite. The Horde and Alliance versions use different quest IDs, shown below.

Who gives the quests?

For Alliance Shamans, Wowhead lists Veyric Thunderhame in Arathi Highlands as the contact for Elemental Aid and Heed My Call, and as the start of The Tempest’s Weapons. The Call of Air objective spells the name Veyric Thundervein, so look for either name.

The Horde records are less clear. Across the steps they list Rau Cliffrunner, Prate Cloudseer and Bath’rah the Windwatcher as quest givers and turn-ins. Prate Cloudseer is in Thousand Needles. Until the Horde contacts are confirmed in game, check your quest log after each turn-in for the next NPC.

Both versions end with Bath’rah the Windwatcher in Alterac Mountains, at about 80.4, 66.8 according to Wowhead’s report.

Where to find the Twisted Totems

Storm, Earth, and Fire asks for 20 totems, five of each element. Wowhead’s report places the creatures that drop them in Dustwallow Marsh, Desolace, Swamp of Sorrows and the Badlands.

Blizzard’s October 8 notes made this step faster. They do not mention Twisted Water Totems.

  • The creatures respawn more quickly and drop their totems more often.
  • Maraudine Scouts now drop Twisted Air Totems.
  • Ongeku can now drop a Twisted Earth Totem.
  • Murdaloc can now drop a Twisted Fire Totem.
  • Dustbelcher ogres across the Badlands also drop Twisted Fire Totems.
  • Larger camps such as Dustbelcher Grotto respawn faster, but smaller camps do not.

The level 40 elite ritual

Heed My Call is an elite quest. Wowhead’s report describes level 40 elites in Thousand Needles, with waves of Elemental and Quilltusk enemies. You use the Twisted Totems to end the quilboar ritual and take the Eye of the Tempest.

Blizzard made the Eye of the Tempest multi-drop on October 8, so a group of Shamans on this step should each be able to get one. Our advice is to bring a group and wait until you are close to level 40.

Which weapon should you choose?

Bath’rah offers three weapons. The stats below are from Wowhead’s tooltips on October 13. Rage of the Storm is an item level 40 weapon that binds when picked up.

Rage of the Storm has changed since our September 29 article, which listed 102 to 154 damage and 16 Strength. Stats can change again before launch. The extra reward also differs by faction. Wowhead lists Rune of the Storm for the Horde version and Elementalist’s Guard for the Alliance version. We could not confirm what either one does.

Our advice: if you level as Enhancement, take Rage of the Storm for its Stormstrike bonus. Healers and Elemental Shamans should take the matching fist weapon.

Fitting the chain into your leveling

The chain crosses several zones and a dungeon, so it works best as a series of detours rather than one trip. Take the Razorfen Kraul step when you already plan to run the dungeon, and collect totems while you quest in Desolace, Dustwallow Marsh, Swamp of Sorrows and the Badlands.

Wisp’s 30–35 beta route does not guide this chain yet. The Elemental Aid quest giver and turn-in are not confirmed, so we have left the chain out rather than guess.
