WoW Forever Rogue changes: Shank, Poised and your leveling plan
Learn when Rogues unlock Poised and Shank in WoW Forever, how Shank’s Energy cost works, and what to check before following an older leveling build.
Two new tools to plan around
| Unlock | Confirmed behavior |
|---|---|
| Poised, level 18 | At full Energy outside combat, your next Energy ability costs 10 less. |
| Shank, level 24 | Costs 5 Energy, generates 15, has a 10-second cooldown and strikes with your off-hand. It cannot miss. |
| Shank rank 2, level 44 | Generates 25 Energy. |

Read the cost as well as the Energy gained
For the base first rank, 15 Energy gained minus 5 spent means a net gain of 10 before other effects or resource limits. Plan around what you can actually use, rather than treating the larger number as free extra Energy on top of everything else.
Our advice is to watch your resource bar during an ordinary fight. If you are already nearly full, consider whether spending Energy on an intended attack first would make better use of the next gain. Do not delay a needed defensive action just to follow a tidy damage sequence.
For your opening attack, make a habit of checking your character’s current buffs and Energy. Once the fight starts, pay attention to what is happening around you instead of waiting for an out-of-combat benefit to solve a mid-fight problem.
Do not copy your old build by position
Before spending points, inspect the current talent tooltip and its requirements. A remembered spot in the tree is a poor substitute for the talent’s name and effect. If you keep notes, write down the intended benefit rather than just a row and column.
Our existing Rogue talent deep dive predates this patch. Use it as dated background until its allocation has been checked again. This article is a companion explaining the new abilities, not a replacement point-by-point build.
If you use Wisp’s talent tools, preview the plan and read the next point before selecting it. When the plan and the game disagree, use the game’s current requirements and report the mismatch with the talent name and your addon version.
Why players are talking about it
The patch discussion on r/classicwow includes enthusiasm about having another active Energy tool. Other comments focus on how the new choices fit different trees. That is useful context for what players want to try, but it does not establish which spec will perform best at launch.
For your own leveling, judge a setup by an evening of normal play. Notice how often you stop to recover, how comfortably you handle an extra enemy and whether the buttons feel enjoyable. Those observations are more useful than choosing a class from one excited comment.
