WoW Forever Call of Fire: Fire Tar, Reagent Pouch and crowded quest spots

Find the correct Fire Tar and Reagent Pouch sources for Horde and Dwarf Shamans, with practical help for the crowded Call of Fire quest in the Forever beta.

Check which Call of Fire you have

For the material-gathering step of Call of Fire, you need one Fire Tar and one Reagent Pouch. The mobs and the NPC you return to depend on your version of the quest. A Dwarf Shaman should not follow Horde directions into Durotar.

This page focuses on that collection step and the beta crowding reports around it. Several stages share the name Call of Fire, so match the objective in your quest log before setting off. It is not a complete walkthrough of every Fire Totem chain.

Where to get Fire Tar and a Reagent Pouch

These directions are taken from the Forever quest descriptions. Check the named enemy rather than assuming every creature in the camp can supply the item. We have not measured drop rates or verified every spawn in the current client.

Why are players talking about this quest?

A leading r/classicwow post in the October 5 daily feed describes players competing for quest targets and alleges that some Hunters are charging for tags. The post had roughly 3,100 votes when checked. That is evidence of a prominent player complaint, not proof of how often it happens or a Blizzard ruling on the behaviour.

The title mentions Hunters, but the Fire Totem quest being discussed belongs to Shamans. Do not mistake it for a new Hunter class quest. We have not verified the individual accusations and are not naming the players shown.

What to check before spending another hour there

First, read the current objective and check your bags. You may already have one ingredient and be waiting at the wrong camp for the other. Keep both ingredients until you hand them in. A completed collection objective still needs its turn-in.

If the right targets are crowded, ask nearby questers whether they want to group, then check whether your own objective actually progresses. Do not assume party membership guarantees shared loot for this particular step. If it does not help, try another required ingredient or return at a quieter time instead of repeating an unproductive wait.

Avoid abandoning the chain just to test a rumour. Record the quest ID, target name, location and what happened before submitting a beta bug report. A quest item failing to drop from an eligible kill is a different problem from not getting the tag at all.

Keep the rest of your Shaman journey together

Choose Shaman in the class controls on your written starting route. That keeps class-specific instructions visible alongside the shared quests. Use the quest log to confirm which part of the chain you are on before resuming after a break.

A leveling addon can help you keep track of the route and the next stop. It cannot reserve a spawn, change tagging rules or make a server-side quest bug disappear. Wisp’s supported routes bring the directions into the game while leaving you free to pause for a class quest.
