WoW Forever Plainsrunning: the 60% Tauren speed buff explained

Tauren Plainsrunning now builds to 60% movement speed. Understand the stacking bonus, the mounted-speed removal and what it means for your leveling route.

What changed for Tauren on October 26?

Plainsrunning now gives 2% movement speed per stack, up to 60%. Blizzard’s previous values were 1% per stack and a 30% maximum. The same announcement removes the racial’s mounted movement bonus.

That makes 60% the ceiling of a stacking effect. It is not an instant sprint every time you start moving, and it does not mean your mount travels 60% faster.

Why is everyone talking about 2.5 minutes?

A popular October 27 r/classicwow thread points out the beta’s 2.5-minute ramp to full stacks. That discussion is the missing context behind many reactions to the 60% headline.

Blizzard’s latest post changes the bonus per stack and the maximum. It does not state a new stacking interval. Treat the community’s timing as a report about beta behavior until the launch client can be checked, rather than presenting it as a fresh measurement of the new tuning.

The earlier October 16 notes also require a minimum distance travelled each second to keep the effect. Blizzard explicitly says stutter-stepping is no longer enough. Moving a little on the spot while reading a quest is not a dependable way to preserve it.

How should this change your leveling route?

Our advice is to treat Plainsrunning as a benefit during journeys you already need to make. Group nearby objectives, finish your business at a quest hub and then make the longer run to your next destination. That is a useful route even when your stacks are low.

Do not skip a quest hand-in, training stop or herb you wanted simply to keep the speed number high. The point of a route is to make progress through your session. Running past useful stops can create another trip later.

For the opening levels, use the Tauren route to see which objectives belong together. An in-game leveling guide such as Wisp helps you follow the next step while you play. It does not change your racial or turn the maximum movement bonus into a constant one.

Is Tauren now the best race for leveling?

This announcement alone cannot settle that. A maximum travel bonus does not measure a whole leveling session, which also includes fights, recovery, dialogue and time spent finding objectives.

If you already wanted a Tauren, the stronger running bonus is something to look forward to. If you were happy with another race, compare the class, starting area and racial abilities you will actually enjoy before changing your plan over one number.
